Connie Sanchez

A former English teacher brings all the imagination and creativity from her past literary life to her art glass creations. Since 1979, she has immersed herself in both the technical and creative aspects of stained glass in a variety of forms, from flat glass panels to unique fused glass art.

Although Connie has been creating stained glass since 1979, it wasn’t until 1983 that she began fusing glass.

She has owned her own stained glass studio and retail business in downtown Englewood, CO since 1991. She began managing the glass store and teaching classes in 1982.

Prior to stained glass classes, Connie earned an undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas and a Master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. A teacher at heart, she taught high school and college English and drama classes for more than ten years. So sharing knowledge, skills and techniques comes naturally for her. Her quest for new and innovative techniques is part of her daily schedule. Even though glass is her medium, Native American images, reflecting her own Cherokee heritage, are her inspiration. Having lived in New Mexico, where her heart remains, Southwest images are prominent in her work.

The ever changing genre of glass keeps her ideas fresh and innovative.
