Michael Horse

Born in a place he calls “Near Tucson” of Yaqui, Zuni and Mescalero Apache descent, Michael is an internationally known and award winning artist, whose jewelry, paintings and sculptures have been shown at Bonwit Teller in New York, The Smithsonian in D.C., the Heard Museum in Los Angeles (where he is an artist in residence), the Autry Museum of Western Heritage in Los Angeles, and in fine galleries throughout the world.

In spring of 1997, a 30 year retrospective of his work entitled “Dreams of Horses – The Collected Works of Michael Horse” was shown at the Southwest Museum, where he also co-curated their exhibit “Spirit Horses”.

An actor as well as an artist, Michael has appeared in numerous TV shows, movies and, his favorite, cartoons (Twin Peaks, Passenger 57 and The Tick to name a few). As a linguist in several Native American languages, he has been working behind the camera as well, lending his voice and knowledge to a variety of projects.

Michael just completed three seasons on the popular Canadian series North of 60, and as a part owner of a film production company in Oklahoma City, is in the midst of producing TV and film projects, along with a documentary on Native American veterans.

As a public speaker and an activist for Native American rights, Michael can be found anywhere from a Kindergarten class to the Pentagon, or in rare moments of spare time, in his back yard, watching the grass grow.
